The fame of the city of Tabriz is intertwined for many reasons, not only in the architectural and urban history of this country, but also in the Islamic world. The emergence of numerous urban and architectural spaces in the early Islamic centuries led to the formation of numerous scientific centers in this city as a cultural hub of the Islamic world, and therefore provided the basis for the presence of famous and renowned scholars, mystics, poets, and scientists from different regions of Iran and countries near and far. In those years, Tabriz gained great fame and prestige in this regard and also became a base for artistic activities. In such a way that the first Iranian school of painting, called the First School of Tabriz, was founded in this city in the 7th and 8th centuries of the Islamic calendar. Therefore, the purpose of compiling this book is to answer this fundamental question: What impact did the presence of mystics, poets, saints, and ministers in this city have on the formation and development of the urban structure of this historical city?
For the first time, in order to carefully examine the impact of shrines on the development of the structure of the city of Tabriz over several centuries, the identification and location of shrines and their role in the development and formation of the urban structure are discussed in this book.
