Study of "The entrance gate of the new city of Sahand (eastern entrance)"

Urban entrances or gates are among the urban spaces that have the greatest impact on citizens and travelers in terms of meaning and legibility. Entering the city is done both mentally and objectively. In the past, one of the most important spaces with urban identity in our country was the entrance to cities, but today, due to the expansion of the city and urbanization and the presentation of inappropriate urban plans, the entrance to most new cities has been foreseen without any special and specific design, and on the other hand, the concept of passing through an external space and the "gate" of the old entrance to cities has also been destroyed over time. In the past, entrances were in the form of gates, leading into an interior space and generally associated and presented with the concept of arrival or the sense of arrival. Nowadays, the sense of arrival may not be shown with a gate, but evoking the feeling of arrival is gradually formed from the outside of a complex and increases the traveler's psychological security. But today we see that the entrance has been reduced to an opening or a sign announcing the entrance, and in many cases we lack an entrance joint. Naturally, in these circumstances, we cannot expect the entrance to have the characteristics of a place. Perhaps this is due to the fact that, inevitably, the entrance occurs at the intersection of two related zones or spaces, and the obviousness of this issue, along with the excessive importance given to individual spaces, has led to a lack of attention to the quality of the entrance. Whereas in the past, each space was completed in relation to other spaces, and attention to this relationship inevitably reminded us of the importance of the entrance.
